May! My Favourite month
I love May, it’s my favourite month. Sunny days that aren’t yet too hot, trees in bright leaf, flowers blooming and my garden, tiny as it is, is buzzing with life.
I have a history of battling with plants I cannot control. First was a passion flower that was just a monster, triffid like in it’s enormity, it could have engulfed a toddler, then a straggly bay tree that took root in the tiniest patch of rough soil and is now huge and unassailable and finally the jasmine that is slowly destroying the garden wall. This year I have decided to let them run riot and have been rewarded with clouds of jasmine flowers cascading over the walls that smell just heavenly!
My shed is still without a bench or electricity and will be for at least another couple of months yet. George and Natalie are also still working from home so I can’t make jewellery either, so frustrating as I have some stunning pearls that I want to combine with some of my glass beads into necklaces. Ah well, I’m sure I’ll get there in the end, meanwhile here are some photos of the jasmine, you will just have to imagine their scent.
