This photo was taken in New York, 1986 about a month or so after George and I started going out. I didn’t really know George very well let alone any of his friends. When got together in July, he already had a trip booked in September to drive across the US, from New York to Los Angeles with his friends Angus and Linda and to meet up other friends already over there. I finagled four weeks off work and booked my plane ticket to go with him, poor mum and dad must have been totally freaked out! Fortunately following my heart was the right decision, it was an epic holiday. We have now been married for over 30 years now and Suzie and Rob are still our best friends.

This photo was taken maybe a year or so later, outside a friends flat in Elephant and Castle. I loved that floral top so much, but my favourite things about this photo? Firstly it’s really caught a time and a place in my life when I was really happy and secondly?… no bingo wings!
