Back Up North
I went to see mum in Lancaster last week, I haven’t been able to go since Auntie Sheila’s funeral in January. Five months is a long time for someone with dementia so I was pretty trepidatious about how mum would be, would she even recognise me. As it turns out she was quite chipper and very pleased to see me. She does get tired very quickly so my visits to the care home have to be short so I don’t overwhelm her. Which means typically i have quite a lot of time on my hands.
This time I was lucky enough to get some sunshine so I sacked off all the usual nonsense of “things I should be doing” while in Lancaster and went for a walk to Glasson Dock. I have to say it really hasn’t changed very much since I was a child and it brought back lots of memories of being there with Dad and Stephen.
All in all it was a lovely visit and I’m happy to have some good memories and photos to remind me.
