Beads I Have Loved - Serenade

I went back to pre 2008 to find some of my older beads I have loved but sadly the photos are way too small to use. One of the problems of not keeping my favourite beads is that I can't take good photos of them now my camera and photography have improved, so much of the nuance is lost. The other problem is not having any clue how I made something! Sometimes (not always) when I pick one of my beads up I can see or remember how I made it, it's almost like a physical memory.

Knowing isn't everything though. The other part of that equation, and the one where I fail most often, is actually being able to reproduce it. Looking at this photo I can actually remember the colours of glass and the process I used to get this effect but try as I might I have never been able to repeat it. Maybe the wind was blowing in a certain direction, the stars were aligned, the glass gods were having a party, I held my tongue in a particular way.... who even knows.

I just love the way the silver forms a hexagonal border around the green circles, especially as no green glass was used in this bead. Also I love the way the silver fumed the top of the bead with that gorgeous smokiness. It's been a while since I tried to make another though so maybe it's time to try again because honestly I absolutely loved this bead and I am astonished I let it go.

This is pretty much the size of my bead photos pre 2008, so tiny!
