Is it possible to have too much fun? I got back from Switzerland last night and I have to tell you I had a blast. Stephanies class was absolutely fantastic, she is a talented and generous teacher with a wicked sense of humour, I had so much fun I really didn't want to come home. We worked with Bullseye glass, which was great for me as I already have a ton of it and have never used it. Stephanie covered various sculptural techniques, buttons, pendants, her beautiful starfish and hearts, her use of colour is joyful and I loved watching her work. For me it was a huge relief to finally do something different, I think it is going to take me a while to get to grips with it all but I learnt loads. I am really looking forward to trying to incorporate some of it into my work. There were students from France and Germany as well as Switzerland and they were all so nice, as usual I made some lovely new friends, hello Clare :-). I had a great surprise when a beadmaker I met in Burghausen last year turned up for the class, Carla makes fantastic beads and I really enjoyed seeing her again. The class was at Creative Glass in Zurich and my hosts Erna and Harry were the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, they really went out of their way to look after me. If you ever have a chance to take a class here run don't walk, its a great place run by wonderful people. I read Stephanies new book on the flight home, it is called "Designing Jewlery wih Glass Beads". It is a super book which features her spiny knotted bracelet along with lots of other ideas for designing with glass beads, I will be using it often I think.Okay I'm finally out of superlatives and so to sum up.... I had too much fun. Thank you to everyone who was involved and I really hope I can come back one day.
