I was right about Fridays beads, they were v.poor, but undeterred I headed back out today to make Natalie a bead for her birthday on Tuesday (leaving it to the last minute as usual).I hand mixed colours, pulled stringers, tried a couple of new colour combinations in preparation, it was going to be a beauty. Two hours into it looking fantastic and ready for the final shaping and wouldn't you know it? the bead release broke, not in a fixable way, oh no, in a bead spinning, going to slide down the mandrel and burn the beejesus out of my hand kind of way....AAAAARRRGGGGHHHH! I can't tell you how much I hate it when that happens and it happens all of the time, its just heartbreaking. I have tried all different types of release at this point and I don't think I'm particularly heavy handed with the glass, its enormously frustrating. So now I have to scrub all my mandrels with a brillo pad to give them a bit more grip then try mixing different brands of release together although I'm quite tempted to just give up.
