During the last year we have had snow in Hove several times and every time I have managed to be elsewhere. In fact back last winter the snow actually followed me around the country as I took N-J and the boy on the Great University tour of '09. I remember coming back down from Manchester and seeing the massed grey snowy maw snapping at my heels in the rear view mirror desperate not to have to stop in case it caught up with me!Then before Christmas I hired a car which, in a fit of snarkiness I failed to take extra insurance out for, thus adding a frisson of terror to the following journey. BG always drives but he wasn't insured at all for the hire car and so it fell to me to drive the the unfamiliar manual car (ours is automatic) in appalling weather. Snow was falling when I picked up the unfamiliar manual car, from an unfamiliar industrial estate in Harlow then I drove back to Epping, then Croydon then up to Liverpool, back to Epping and on to Hove, approximately 650 miles in the space of 48 hours and the snow just kept coming - cripes, my hands were like claws from gripping the steering wheel for days after. So here I am in the warmth of my own home watching the snow softly falling, listening to the weather forecast and being really really glad I don't have to drive anywhere at all particularly in a hire car!
