I was talking about getting migraines the other day and I have been getting them A LOT. I was pretty much up to one every 2 or 3 days which is seriously unfunny when the painkillers don't work and the only option is to take yourself off to bed in a dark room for the duration. Nothing was getting done and I mean nothing, no beads, no dinner, no laundry, nada, boy was it dull. On Wednesday when I had to come home from work because I couldn't see properly I thought it was probably about time to mention it to my doctor.Apparently you can get medication for migraines these days, who knew? Well she did, obviously and she seemed more than a little surprised to find out that I have had migraines on and off for the last 10 years and had failed to tell her about them at any point. Anyway she prescribed some new tablets that are not painkillers but act on the spasming blood vessels that lead to the headaches and explained that for about 70% of patients they work really well. Gloriously I am one of the 70% and they work like magic, I am ecstatic. Rarely have I been so pleased to be part of the majority, ain't modern medicine a marvellous thang?
