So N-J and the boy went back to college this week for their final year after what has to be the longest summer holiday ever. Their timetables don't seem too bad, not too many late finishes although neither of them has a full day off either (which I'm actually quite pleased about, flipping part-timers) Just to make sure we are on our toes university open days start this weekend too so to kick us off we will be driving down to Southampton today. My plan is to take them both to the first one to see how it all works and then if they have a burning desire to see any others (as opposed to just reading the prospectus) I will put them on a train/coach and let them get on with it. Actually my plan is to put them in the car with George then go and make beads but I digress.....I am fairly appalled that their college has completely failed to make any mention of these or any other University open days, which considering they are actually at a college specifically for years 12 and 13 is ridiculous. We already missed one lot of open days earlier in the summer and if I hadn't been on the ball we would have missed these too. Last year the boy had to change his maths A2 choice halfway through because his class wasn't big enough and already this year he has been told the teaching time for both music technology and electronics will be cut by 25%. I realise money is tight but how the hell are these students supposed to succeed when they aren't even going to get the full teaching time? I am mad as hell and can feel an angry missive coming on. How much harder could they possibly make it?
