It's so nice being able to make some beads, now all I need is a couple of weeks off work to get back up to pace. I have decided to try and work on a particular aspect of each bead I make for a while. Today I made a floral focal, dark emerald green with pink flowers, focussing mainly on petal placement but also encasing without distortion. I think I managed the petals pretty nicely and even managed pink without the colour being affected by silver seeping through where I poke the middle to pull the petals in but I won't know for sure until tommorow. These beads always take over two hours to make so usually I'm getting pretty tired by the time I get to the final shaping, today was no exception. In my haste to get it finished I overheated one end so one of the flowers went squiffy, which just goes to show that you can't rush a good bead. Tommorow I'm going to concentrate on the final shaping and overall proportions of the finished bead, I have a particular size and shape that I really like but I find it difficult to pull off on a regular basis so that is going to take quite a bit more work. I am trying to make notes when I get it right to make it easier to repeat in the future but sometimes I just seem to be in the zone and when I'm done I have no idea what I did differently. I am thouroughly enjoying myself and am really happy to be thinking and planning beads again. I am going to start making some smaller beads too once I decide where to start. Now how can I bribe George to give me some time off?
