Soup-s-up

I had meant to post this last week but I have had a disgusting head cold which knocked me off my feet for a few days. Having a cold always sounds a bit pathetic and you feel you should be able to soldier on regardless but in my experience sometimes you just have to go to bed and wait for the snot to stop. My Bead Soup Partner Jo of Fire Phoenix Creations has now received her soup from me and I have mine so I can now show you...

First up, the beautiful soup Jo sent me... a wonderful Jade Scott turtle pendant, a copper clasp by the lovely Joanne Tinley (which is extra special because she has recently stopped making components), some gorgeous wooden beads (so tactile) that Jo bought in New York complete with some gorgeous co-ordinating silks and beads in the prettiest colours.

I absolutely love my soup and I'm already cooking up some ideas of what I'm going to do with it.

And this is the soup I sent Jo

The moth clasp is from Amanda Davie-Elements, then from Smitten Beads some ceramic saucers and discs, speckled palm wood saucer beads and co-ordinating peanut beads, some borosilicate beads and one of my personal favourite floral focal lampwork beads with cubic zirconia. The focal was special to me because it is one of the few, if not the only, floral bead I have managed to make on a silver glass base without the silver glass seeping up through the flowers and spoiling the colour, plus I was really happy with the shape and that doesn't happen very often!

I hope Jo loves her soup as much as I love mine and i can't wait for the next stage of the party.... The Big Reveal on May 3rd, stay tuned!
