It would seem builders are like buses. Having waited for weeks for any one of the 4 that we contacted when water started pouring down the inside of the walls, I now have two coming today! I predict that, if they turn up at all, they will do so together and both talk utter bollocks before quoting me stupid money to fix it! Me, bitter much? hell yes.
When one spends an enormous amount of money getting building work done one does not expect rain inside the house. I believe the problem was not completely of their making but the least they could have done was fix it before clearing off. I asked them to do it and would have paid them handsomely, they still had all their gear here and there was obviously a problem but noooo. As it is 3 months after they finished we are still looking for someone to actually turn up, bring a ladder ( I know, the roof... who would think? a ladder???), take a look, maybe, possibly even consider doing the work. As it is, we now have to re-decorate not only the 3 rooms they did but also Natalie's room and the living room as well. I nearly lost it altogether when I went to the bathroom this morning, I washed my hands and when I looked in the mirror spied large clumps of paint from the ceiling in my hair!
However, our problems are miniscule in comparison to other people up and down the country whose lives and livelihoods have literally been washed away by the rain and the sea, my heart goes out to them. I do know how lucky we are and I am eternally grateful that we live where we live and our problems are temporary and fixable.
Just to finish up... sign ups are coming this weekend. For one day only Sunday 9th February sign up for the 8th Bead Soup Blog Party, my calender is marked is yours?
