Back from Malta
and I am desperately trying to catch up, but in between the laundry mountain and the migraine I did manage to get to the torch a couple of times and make some beads. These are plain black Effetre glass decorated with silver glass shards and cubic zirconia. I make my own shards by building a gather of glass on the end of a blow pipe, heating it up and blowing it out into a bubble, a bit like blowing a soap-bubble but hotter and more dangerous. I wait for the bubble to cool and then break it into pieces (shards) which I then melt onto my beads. I love using shards, leaving them raised for texture, layering colours, masking, making them with silver or reactive glass... their uses are endless and rarely disappointing.
These are in my Etsy shop now.
